Before I get started on this year of adventure, it is probably worth explaining a little bit about how I have landed myself in this predicament.
One of my best friends has spent the last few years skimping and saving towards a year long trip around the world; at her long awaited leaving bash I was talking to another close friend about something that had been plaguing me for weeks.
Every time I withdrew cash, often after queuing for the privilege and, as I live in East London where there doesn’t seem to be any free cash-points anywhere, frequently having to pay for it too, I questioned why I was doing it. Did I really need to get cash out or was it just habit?
The conversation went on and I somehow convinced myself that I didn’t need cash ever again and that I could live quite happily and uninhibited without it. By the time we stopped talking I had made a bet, predominantly with myself, that I would not use ‘money’ for a year.
My cashless predicament adventures have also led me to the weird and wonderful world of the Internet and blogging.
That’s what you are reading now… Ta Da!
